A secret McDonald's menu exists . . . kind of.
On Friday, someone under the username "orchidhibiscus" who claimed to be a McDonald’s staff member
posted on a Reddit thread entitled, “I Am A McDonald’s Manager Ask Me Anything."
"You can order from the 'Secret Menu.' Just like with any of our sandwiches, you can add, remove, or change ingredients by special request. These are called 'grill orders' (i.e. Big Mac no pickle)," the user wrote. "The items on the 'secret menu' weren't invented by anyone officially at McDonald's, it's just a random persons guide to burgers you could potentially 'hack' at McDonald's."
"Order one and the workers might not know it by name (i.e. Land, Air and Sea burger or the McGangBang), but if you explain what it is, and are willing to pay for all the ingredients, it's just another 'grill order' that we can make up."
While the Internet immediately took that to mean a secret menu exists, a McDonald's spokeswoman said Tuesday that customers have always been able to customize their orders.
“We know our customers are really creative and they tell us all the time that they
enjoy customizing our menu,” she said, according to CNN.
The company had previously written on its website in 2014 that “our customers are pretty clever when it comes to customizing their orders with our menu items, so you may have seen some of their creations online . . . But we have no official secret menu of our own.”
McDonald’s alleged secret menu is purported to have been
revealed on the website #HackTheMenu, in which 20 items are listed that can supposedly be purchased, although they are listed nowhere on the official menu. These items include the McGangBang, which mixes a McDouble with a McChicken sandwich for just $2, and the Monster Mac, which is a normal Big Mac with six extra beef patties added to the buns. Other items include the Chicken McGriddle, the McCrepe, the Land, Sea, and Air Burger, the McLeprechaun Shake, the Neapolitan Shake, and the Poor Man’s Big Mac.
