CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reached an agreement to resign this week after months of reported head butting with execs over the network's political agenda.
Attkisson, who left CNN for CBS News more than two decades ago, announced Monday she would no longer be one of the network's Washington-based correspondents.

"It's been one of life’s great privileges to work at CBS News, and I’m sincerely grateful for the many opportunities I've had," she said in a statement.
Known for her critical reports on the Obama administration, Attkisson has reportedly grown increasingly frustrated in recent months.
"Feeling increasingly stymied and marginalized at the network, Attkisson began talking to CBS News President David Rhodes as early as
last April about getting out of her contract," Politico reported. "Those negotiations intensified in recent weeks, and her request was finally honored on Monday."
A source close to Attkisson confirmed her helpless feelings, saying she was annoyed with being kept off "The CBS Evening News."
"It’s no secret that Sharyl has been unhappy about CBS' lack of interest in investigative reporting, especially when it comes to stories about the Obama administration," the source told Politico.
CBS issued its own statement Monday following Attkisson's departure.
"CBS News veteran Sharyl Attkisson is leaving the news division to pursue other endeavors," Sonya McNair, senior vice president for communications for CBS News, said in a statement. "We appreciate her many contributions and we wish her well."
