Los Angeles police have reportedly located Shelly Miscavige after actress Leah Remini filed a missing persons report last week claiming the founder of Scientology's wife had not been seen publicly since 2006.
Remini,
who left the church last month after 30 years, has been speaking out about its controversial inside practices.

"I believe that people should be able to question things,"
Remini told People magazine in July. "I believe that people should value family, and value friendships, and hold those things sacrosanct. That for me, that's what I'm about. It wouldn't matter what it was, simply because no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to. I'm not about to shut up."
Remini was reportedly subject to harassment by the church after questioning Scientology founder David Miscavige about the whereabouts of his wife Shelly at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' 2006 wedding in Italy.
Scientology has long been criticized as a cult that promotes brainwashing. Critics argue the church's leaders keep control over members through character assassination, costly litigation, and/or psychological abuse.
Sources say that after Remini left the church last month, she filed a missing persons report with the LAPD.
Tony Ortega,
who runs a website about the inner workings of the church called the Underground Bunker, reported that Shelly Miscavige was taken to a secret compound near Lake Arrowhead in late 2005 or early 2006.
According to Ortega, Remini's report questioned whether Miscavige had freedom of movement or was being "punished for her own shortcomings."
But now police are saying the missing persons report was "unfounded," according to TMZ, which said that officers had a face-to-face meeting with Shelly Miscavige.
The church of Scientology has long denied any wrongdoing regarding its founder's wife.
In 2012, Shelly Miscavige's attorneys told Us Weekly that "any reports that she is missing are false. ... Mrs. Miscavige has been working nonstop in the Church, as she always has."
