A sheriff in Tennessee had shots fired at his house this week, and he said it was possibly anti-police violence inspired in part by Beyonce, who paid homage to the militant Black Panther Party in her Super Bowl performance.

"We all know, as soon as you put your uniform on, you’re a target," Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold said Tuesday morning, The Daily News Journal reported.

"You make people mad when you’re just doing your job."

He said he wondered if Beyonce, who sported a bandolier as she led a formation of women dressed like Black Panthers during her halftime performance, had contributed to the country's anti-cop sentiment.

"You know, Beyonce’s video," he said.

Arnold is not the first to call out the singer's new song, "Formation," as well as accompanying music video and halftime performance.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was offended by what he saw as Beyonce's glorification of the Black Panthers, Malcolm X, and Black Lives Matter movement, the latter of which has chanted "pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon," at a Minnesota rally, CBS News reported

"This is football, not Hollywood, and I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers who are the people who protect her and protect us, and keep us alive," Giuliani said of the pop singer.

Before Giuliani spoke out, the National Sheriffs' Association reportedly turned their back on Beyonce during a Super Bowl party, and later released a statement condemning the performance.

"The senseless killing of four law enforcement officers just this week — on the heels of the anti-police 'entertainment' at the Sunday Super Bowl halftime show — reminds us that the men and women in law enforcement take a solemn oath that includes putting their lives on the line every day to protect our citizens."

Last week, protesters also gathered at the NFL's New York headquarters to rally against the performance. The event's online announcement page showed a mugshot of Herman Bell, a former Black Liberation Army member convicted of murdering two police officers.
