Shia LaBeouf and actress Margaret Qualley have split up. LaBeouf has been accused by his ex, singer FKA Twigs, of physically and sexually abusing her and now it has emerged that Qualley has been facing "backlash" after she was linked with the "Transformers" star, People reported Thursday.
According to the outlet, the pair got close while filming "Love Me Like You Hate Me" last year and have since been spotted together on various occasions in recent weeks, but according to a source, they called things off on Saturday. "They're just in different places in their lives," the insider said, adding that Qualley was focusing on her career and "ready to get back to work."
The news comes less than two weeks after it emerged that LaBeouf was seeking long-term inpatient care following the lawsuit in which FKA Twigs accused him of sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress.
In her filing, Twigs said LaBeouf mentally and emotionally abused her on several occasions. She further stated he knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease. The lawsuit also included allegations of abuse by another former girlfriend, Karolyn Pho, who claimed LaBeouf reportedly pinned her to a bed then head-butted her so hard she bled.
The actor said many of the claims were not true but admitted to The New York Times that he was a recovering alcoholic.
"I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel," he wrote in an email to the outlet. "I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say."
