In less than a week the most prestigious TV award shows will roll into town but many have already been speculating about what shows should win an Emmys this year.

The 69th edition of the Emmy Awards, which takes place on Sept. 17 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, will celebrate the top TV programs from 32 categories.

This year features a vast pool of talent and, while it would be difficult to determine who the possible winners could be, this has not stopped critics from making their own predictions on which programs deserve to be honored with a golden statuette.

Best Drama Series

Variety has slated NBC's "This Is Us" as most likely to win its category for best drama however, "The Handmaid's Tale" has proven to be an equally popular series and could cause some upsets on the night of the Emmys.

Best Comedy Series

The general consensus is that previous year's winner, "Veep," will once again take home the title for Best Comedy Series.

However Indiewire observed that "Master of None" and "Atlanta" had both received fervent support and could also be strong contenders for the win.

Best Limited Series

The Hollywood Reporter's awards columnist, Scott Feinberg, thinks "Big Little Lies" will most likely secure the win, although projected standings puts "Feud: Bette and Joan" and "The Night Of" as other popular choices.

Best Actor in a Drama

Sterling K. Brown of "This is Us" is already a firm Emmy favorite contender, Variety noted, based on his win from last year for his role on "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson."

Based on this, the actor is predicted to be the most likely choice for Best Actor in a Drama.

Best Actress in a Comedy Series

In its Emmy predictions, Consequence of Sound predicted Tracee Ellis Ross of "Black-ish" would be the likely winner despite being up against a solid list of nominees.
