SNL 'Star Wars' Trailer: Elderly in Galaxy Far, Far Away (Video)

"Saturday Night Live" added its own parody of the trailer for "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens," with guest host James Franco playing an aged Luke Skywalker who needs force's help just to organize his daily pills.

The new "Star Wars" trailer has been the subject of numerous satires and spoofs since its  release on Nov. 28. It's been viewed 46 million times over the past two weeks.

One of the chief complains about the trailer was that none of the original "Star Wars" cast members – Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford – were shown in it.

SNL took care of that in its spoof, best dubbed as senior citizen version of the J.J. Abrams upcoming "Star Wars" edition, with Taran Killam playing Hans Solo and Bobby Moynihan as Princess Leia, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"'SNL' gives us a doddering Han Solo blurting out orders at the Mos Eisley cantina like it's an intergalactic Denny's, Chewy looking like his most recent trips to the vet aren't going so well, and a Millennium Falcon that can now secure the easy-to-access parking spaces after making the Kessel Run," wrote Anthony Breznican of Entertainment Weekly.

"There’s also Bobby Moynihan as Princess Leia … struggling to figure out some common household technology, and host James Franco as a cave-dwelling Luke Skywalker, who's still putting that Yoda levitation training to good use," Breznican continued.

Jeremy Gerard of Deadline.com wrote that the spoof could have been a little shorter, but served its purpose in poking fun at what was missing in Abram's initial trailer.

"It stayed a bit past its welcome, per usual, but Saturday Night Live's spoofy video takes on the recently released teaser trailer for the next 'Star Wars' arrived from a galaxy long, long ago, then landed a few good blows on the Disney juggernaut coming in a year," Gerard wrote.

"Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens" is scheduled to be in theaters on Dec. 15, featuring the original cast with newcomers John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Adam Driver and Gwendoline Christie.
