Edward Snowden, leaker of the NSA's widespread surveillance program, recently snapped a selfie with British journalist Glenn Greenwald, Greenwald's husband David Miranda, and documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras.

The New York Post reported that Miranda posted the photo to his Facebook account on Thursday, occasioning the first photo in which Snowden and Greenwald, who broke the story of the NSA secrets in The Guardian newspaper last summer, appear together.

On May 13, Greenwald published a book about the ongoing saga of the NSA leaks, "No Place to Hide: Edward Snowden, the NSA, and the U.S. Surveillance State."

It tells the story of how Greenwald came into contact with the former government contractor — then 29 years old — who fled the U.S. after leaking the government secrets. It also assesses the ongoing fallout around the world as Snowden remains in Russia, whose leader, Putin, has vowed not to extradite him.

The selfie was snapped in Russia, where Greenwald conducted an interview with Snowden.

On the same day, WikiLeaks said they may reveal the name of a country specified in the NSA documents that Greenwald filtered out for fear the information could put people in mortal danger, Business Insider reported. In specific, Greenwald's employer, The Intercept, revealed Monday more information from the documents, claiming the NSA has the ability to "vacuum up and store the actual content of every conversation" in the Bahamas and an "unnamed country."

It was also reported by The Washington Post that "NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams was in Russia as well, having scored an exclusive interview package that will see him interview Snowden and Greenwald separately, then together.
