Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking said his ideal movie role would be as a James Bond villain.
"I think the wheelchair and the computer voice would fit the part,"
Hawking said, according to The Telegraph.
Hawking has appeared as himself an episode of “Star Trek,” signed up to appear in the Monty Python reunion shows, and is the subject of the film “The Theory of Everything,” due for release next month.
The idea of
Hawking as a Bond villain, which first was introduced in an interview for the January 2015 issue of Wired magazine, has captured the imagination of many fans, who have taken to Twitter to support the idea.
Writing for The Verge, James Vincent said Hawking “has exactly the sort of ‘accessories’ that gives a Bond villain flair. Plus, his real life profession might provide the bones for a suitably apocalyptic threat to Earth.”
Vincent imagined a possible plot line, complete terrible puns and a hidden outboard motor on Hawking's wheelchair.
“When you think about it, the most difficult thing about casting Hawking as a Bond villain isn’t the believability of him being evil –- it’s trying to picture him not winning,” Vincent wrote.
A title and cast for the
24th James Bond film is set to be announced on Thursday, Vanity Fair reported.
“While the cast is expected to include Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz as the Bond villain Blofeld, don’t we think there might be time to give Blofeld a last-minute evil intellectual cohort? Even if he appeared in cameo capacity?” the article said.
