A waterspout crossed the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa Bay on Sunday morning, destroying a U.S. Postal Service semi-truck and sending mail flying.

"I figured it would just stay in the water and dissipate, but then it hit land," local eyewitness Lee Dove told Fox 13 News. "The truck fell over on the side and then it flipped over on its wheels. I could see the driver the whole time holding onto the wheels."

Florida State Troopers responded to the scene, and soon reported that there were no injuries during the incident. The driver of the USPS truck, 56-year-old Randall Leaver, said that the vehicle was turned onto its right side, and then picked back up and set upright on its wheels.

While there were no injuries, damaged and lost mail was scattered into the bay and onto the roadway, and crews worked through the day to clean up and collect what remained.

According to USA Today, multiple signs were damaged and knocked down, a nearby construction site was damaged, and a small boat was flipped over.

"That truck was probably no more than 50 yards in front of me when I realized what was going on and I stopped," Kent Davis, a nearby driver, told WFLA-TV. "I’ve never been associated with a tornado or anything that close, but I feel bad for the guy in the truck because that had to be really, really, scary because I know I got nervous."

"It was just like any regular day starting out," said Robert Gudes, who was fishing in the bay when he saw the waterspout form. "The next thing I know, it just started getting more intense, debris everywhere. I tried to pick up my buckets and run, the next thing I hear is a boom."
