Susan Sarandon and boyfriend Jonathan Bricklin are back together, once again inviting comments from those weary of the 68-year-old actress' relationship with a man 31 years her junior.
“It’s the soul of a person that interests me,”
Sarandon said of her relationship recently, according to The Spreadit. “When you are in love, the question of age, sex, color no longer hold any importance.”
Sarandon, who won the Best Actress Academy Award for 1995's "Dead Man Walking," began dating Bricklin, the son of automobile billionaire Malcolm Bricklin, in 2010 after she split from Tim Robbins, her partner of 23 years.
After they broke up earlier this year,
Bricklin told the New York Post's Page Six that he had been proud to be dating Sarandon, despite the rumors and criticisms pertaining to their relationship.
“I have a lot of self-confidence. I loved her dating me, and I never felt embarrassed for her dating me," he said. "What I felt was, the general public and maybe her family or friends maybe felt that I wasn’t good enough for her.”
Bricklin maintained even after their split that he still loved her.
“We’re taking some time apart to really refresh,” he told Page Six at the time. “But she’s someone I love more than anyone I’ve ever been with and that won’t change. We’re going to figure out how life proceeds from here.”
But now, back together, the couple attended an art gallery opening earlier this month.
“There is a real bond between them . . . She introduced him to me as her
boyfriend," an anonymous insider told Us Weekly. "Their relationship is pretty much the same as it always was, beyond the fact that they said they split up, they still hang out all the time and hook up.”
Social media users have displayed mixed reactions to the lovebirds’ affair.
