After his stepfather was fatally stabbed with a Samurai-style sword, a 16-year-old Georgia teen is expected to appear in court Monday to face a murder charge.

According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was called in to 911 by a relative of the teen late Friday night.

The attack took place inside a home within the gated community of the Preserve at Sharp Mountain in Jasper, Ga., approximately 60 miles northwest of Atlanta.

After being transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Christopher Allen, 36, died during emergency surgery, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In an email statement to reporters, Sheriff Donnie Griggs said the stabbing occurred after a verbal altercation between the teen and his stepfather. The teen was immediately taken into custody when police arrived at the scene. The sword belonged to a collection of replica items found by authorities in the home.

The teen’s identity wasn’t released. He is being held the Dalton Juvenile Detention Center.
