Target issued an apology Wednesday after an attentive customer noticed that the plus-size version of a dress was offered in "Manatee Gray" on the store's website.
Customer Susan Clemens was online shopping on Target.com Wednesday when she stumbled across an odd discrepancy. A women's maxi dress in the standard size was offered in "Dark Heather Gray" while the exact same plus-size style and color were labeled "Manatee Gray."

The seemingly offensive description was an honest mistake, the retailer claims. Target spokesman Joshua Thomas explained that Target employs two different teams of buyers, each one responsible for either the standard "missy" product line of clothing or the plus size. The teams failed to communicate when inputting the product information into the website.
"We apologize for any discomfort this might have caused and are working to update the name of the dress to reflect Dark Heather Gray," Thomas said in a statement. "This was an unfortunate oversight and we'll take it into consideration moving forward."
Jessica Deede, another
Target spokesperson, insists there are a bunch of products on Target.com offered in the "Manatee Gray" color.
"Manatee gray is actually a seasonal color that is used across product categories on Target.com, from apparel items to home items. This was an unintentional oversight," Deede told FOX News. "We will take this opportunity to learn."
