Two teachers at a suburban New Orleans high school were arrested this week for an alleged threesome with a 16-year-old student after the boy bragged about the encounter to other students.
Kenner Police took Destrehan High School teachers Shelley Dufresne, 32, and Rachel Respess, 24, into custody on charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and were released on a $7,000 bond,
according to the Times-Picayune.
WGNO-TV reported that Dufresne's father is Emile St. Pierre, one of three judges in St. Charles Parish. She is married with three children.
The television station stated that another judge, Lauren Lemmon, has already recused herself from herself from the case. If the third judge, Michele Morel, recuses herself as well, the Louisiana Supreme Court would need to appoint a judge from outside of St. Charles Parish to handle the case, noted WGNO-TV.
Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser told the television station that after a high school football game on Sept. 12, one of the teachers took the victim to Respess's Kenner apartment where the three had sex together until the early morning hours of the next day.
"You have an educator, I guess, the responsibility is the safety and education of the children and when it goes outside those lines I believe the community should be outraged," Glaser told reporters during a news conference.
Police issued a report Thursday that alleged Defresne had sex with the victim more than once before their alleged Sept. 12 incident with Respess, according to the Times-Picayune,
Police charged in the new report that Dufresne "enticed and transported" the teenager to Respass' apartment, with the purpose of engaging in sexual acts and Respess told detectives she knew Dufresne was bringing the boy to her apartment for sex, according to the newspaper.
The boy, who is now 17, told detectives he consented to the encounter but was 16 at the time and not at the age of consent, noted the Times-Picayune. The newspaper said that Louisiana law forbids sexual encounters between educators and students between the ages of 17 and 21.
