Teresa Giudice, who's currently behind bars in a federal prison in Connecticut,
appears on the April 13 Us Weekly cover, giving fans a first look at the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star since she's been locked up.
The photo, taken March 15 at the Danbury Federal Prison, features Giudice, 41, posing with her husband Joe, 44, and the couple's four daughters (though two are
cropped out of the cover image), E! Online reported. She's currently serving a 15-month sentence for bank, mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud.
Teresa Giudice's look was "a far cry from the glamorous photo shoots [she] is used to as a Bravo reality star," the gossip site noted. "With her tan fading and her naturally curly hair flowing freely, Teresa puts on a happy face for the camera as her husband shares new details about her life in prison."
Known as Inmate No. 65703-050 at the prison, Giudice's days start with a 6 a.m. wakeup call, followed by breakfast and the first of three gym sessions.
"She exercises after every meal," Joe Giudice, who will serve a 41-month sentence when his wife gets out, told Us Weekly. "It's like a low-budget spa. They do spin classes, ab classes. She's getting pretty ripped up."
According to RadarOnline, controversy is swirling over the Us Weekly photo, which the gossip site claims was sold to the tabloid for nearly $100,000.
"Not even prison can stop Teresa Giudice from appearing on magazine covers," RadarOnline noted, quoting a souce. "The photos will inevitably raise serious questions about a breach of security at the Danbury Federal Correctional Institution in Connecticut."
The source claims that the Giudice family broke prison rules by taking the photos.
"You cannot take cell phones into the prison, but somehow, this particular family member was able to — and snapped away without guards noticing," the source told RadarOnline. "You can be assured that the prison and its warden are going to be furious when these images are published. It could have serious consequences for Teresa."
