Terry Bradshaw spoke out on domestic violence during Fox NFL Sunday, complaining about defensive lineman Greg Hardy's return after a four-game suspension and calling Dallas Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones an enabler for giving him a job.
"Anybody, in my opinion, that lays a hand on a woman – I don't care who you are my friend – you never come back in this league," said Bradshaw, a Hall of Fame quarterback who starred for the Pittsburgh Steelers during his playing days, according to
USA Today.
"But Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in his desperation to get a pass rusher said 'well you know what America, Cowboys fans, he's alright. He's a good boy. We're going to get him all straightened out over here and bring him in.' Which he did. He has his first news conference, he makes a fool of himself," said Bradshaw. "This is wrong. We have no place for this. I'm actually tired of talking about the Hardys of the world, and I really, really, seriously hope that eventually we never have a place in the NFL for people that touch a woman."
Hardy signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys in March, but in April the NFL suspended Hardy for 10 games for violating its personal conduct policy in connection with a domestic violence case involving a woman, reported
CNN. He appealed the suspension and it was reduced to four games by an arbitrator.
Hardy finally made his debut on Sunday when defending Super Bowl champion New England trounced the Cowbys 30-6.
Before the Patriots game, Hardy cracked to reporters about New England quarterback Tom Brady's wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
"I love seeing Tom Brady," said Hardy. "He's cool as crap. Have you seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game, I hope her sister comes to the game, all her friends come to the game."
Hardy was roundly criticized and called "tone deaf" given his recent domestic violence charge.
Afterwards, Jones tried to come to the defense of his new starter.
"When I saw (Brady) marry (Bundchen), Tom went up in my eyes 100 percent. She's very, very attractive and it shows what an outstanding individual Tom is," Jones was quoted by NBC Sports'
