"The Last Jedi" is plural in the title of the next "Star Wars" movie, the release of foreign titles of the film has revealed.
Since "Jedi" can be plural without adding the letter "S," it was unclear whether the film's title meant one last Jedi or more. On Friday, the official French "Star Wars" Twitter account unveiled the French version of the title — Les Derniers Jedi — with grammar including a plural article, Slate noted.
The revelation has fueled fan theories about who the last Jedi are.
"Luke, the only Jedi we know is left alive, and Rey, who we can assume will become his pupil?" Slate writer Marissa Martinelli speculated. "Does the title also refer to Finn, who showed some signs that he might be Force sensitive? Will Kylo Ren, who once trained as a Jedi, return to the Light side? Are there others?"
Other languages including Spanish and German also reveal the title to be plural, Gizmodo noted.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is set for release Dec. 15.
