Tiger Woods is threatening legal action over release of a nude photo of him taken from the phone of his ex-girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, TMZ reported on Monday.

Woods, the former No. 1 golfer in the world, reportedly sent Vonn the photo during their relationship, and the photo was still on Vonn's phone when it was recently hacked, TMZ said while relying on its sources.

The website Celeb Jihad has already posted nude pictures of gold-medal skier Vonn, TMZ noted.

Nude pictures of other stars are featured on the website, including Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, Stella Maxwell, and Katherine McPhee, per TMZ.

The Hollywood Reporter said Woods' attorney Michael Holtz sent Celeb Jihad a letter threatening legal action.

According to THR, Celeb Jihad reportedly posts real and fake intimate images of famous women without permission and then removes them after receiving legal notices.

Vonn, 32, who split from Woods in May 2015, released a statement to the New York Post Page Six, decrying the hacking of her phone.

"It is an outrageous and despicable invasion of privacy for anyone to steal and illegally publish private intimate photos," a representative for Vonn told the Post. "Lindsey will take all necessary and appropriate legal action to protect and enforce her rights and interests.”

"She believes the individuals responsible for hacking her private photos as well as the websites that encourage this detestable conduct should be prosecuted to the fullest extent under the law," the representative stated, per the Post.

The nude photo continues a year of misery for Woods, who has not played competitively on the PGA Tour for most of the year because of back surgery. In May, on Memorial Day, authorities found Woods asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle, the Palm Beach Post reported. At the time, he reportedly had taken a mixture of prescribed medications.

A toxicology report released in early August also found Delta-9 carboxy THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, in Woods' system as well, ESPN reported.

Earlier this month, Woods agreed that in October he would plead guilty to reckless driving, in exchange for a DUI charge being dropped, and enter a first-time DUI offender program, the Post said.

The Post said the State Attorney's office diversion program allows participants to serve 12 months on probation with special conditions, allowing them to possibly expunge their reckless driving charge in the future.
