The time capsule marriage proposal that surprised Jennifer Storrar back in June has now taken social media by storm after the will-you-marry-me story was recently retold on CTV News and Inside Edition.
Storrar, 24, was stunned to find that a time capsule – actually a peanut butter jar – she and her now-fiancée Troy Reddington, also 24, buried five years ago at a Canadian campsite now contained a marriage proposal.
Reddington had gone back to the campsite in May, dug up the old time capsule and planted a new one containing the marriage proposal.
He said he came up with the idea three years earlier, but waited another two years before setting the elaborate proposal in motion.
The couple kayaked to the island campsite in Ontario in June, the same way they did five years before.
"I could not believe him," Storrar told InsideEdition. "He went on such a trek to do this."
Reddington said he was ready to propose in November but decided he couldn't pass up the opportunity with the time capsule.
"I couldn't get across the lake," said Reddington. "I couldn't do anything with it in the wintertime."
The proposal warmed the hearts of many on social media.
