A Time magazine cover on Chris Christie's re-election as New Jersey's governor featuring a silhouetted picture of Christie with the title "The Elephant in the Room" is drawing fire.
Huffington Post political reporter Arthur Delaney said he loved the cover for its humorous intent and believes it to be about Republicans, whose symbol is an elephant, and also feeding into jokes about Christie’s large ears.

But others think the Time cover zinged Christie on his weight, popular joke fodder everywhere.
The magazine will be on newsstands Friday, but that cover image is being plastered all across social media. Most seem to fall on the “this was a fat joke” side of opinion about what Time magazine was trying to say.
And
Red State came back with a mocked up Time cover with President Obama’s silhouette and the title, “The Jackass in the Room.”
“‘Elephant in the room?’ You have to admit: that’s some dang good passive-aggressive, plausibly deniable fat-shaming, there,” the site wrote.
Other commenters didn’t think the cover was so bad. Wrote MauryCompson
on a Gawker article, “This only makes sense if it’s a fat elephant. Elephants are big but not necessarily obese. Sure there are probably some fatass elephants but the ones I know are in pretty good shape.”
Wrote another commenter on the article, “I’m sure they’re all patting themselves on the back over there at Time, snickering about how they made a weight joke and a Republican reference at the same time.”
