Even though she received rave reviews for her gig co-hosting the Golden Globes, Tina Fey said "no way" when asked this week about whether she would host the Academy Awards next year.
Despite William Shatner's wishes in which he said, "Why couldn’t they get Tina and Amy [Poehler] to host?" during host Seth MacFarlane's opening Oscar monologue Sunday night, the comedienne says she has no interest in emceeing Hollywood's biggest night.
"I just feel like that gig is so hard," she told the
Huffington Post. "Especially for, like, a woman — the amount of months that would be spent trying on dresses alone... no way."
Fey recently concluded her critically-acclaimed show "
30 Rock" after seven seasons. She's currently promoting her new film, "Admission," which co-stars Paul Rudd. The movie is slated for a March 22 release.
This year's host,
"Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane had the same reaction when asked by a Twitter follower if he'd ever host the Oscars again.
MacFarlane's raunchy jokes drew skepticism from critics who considered his act sexist and anti-Semitic.
The American Defamation League responded to his performance in a written statement Monday.
"While we have come to expect inappropriate 'Jews control Hollywood' jokes from Seth MacFarlane, what he did at the Oscars was offensive and not remotely funny," the statement said. "It only reinforces stereotypes which legitimize anti-Semitism. It is sad and disheartening that the Oscars awards show sought to use anti-Jewish stereotypes for laughs."
