Legendary singer Tina Turner signed a statement to voluntarily relinquish her U.S. citizenship,
according to the Washington Post.
Turner's statement appeared on an activity report from the U.S. Embassy in Bern, Switzerland headlined, "Soul Legend Relinquishes U.S. Citizenship."

Turner, 73, retired from performing concerts in 2009.
Turner became a Swiss citizen in April. Turner, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and winner of eight Grammy awards, married longtime boyfriend Erwin Bach, a German music producer, in July.
The Associated Press reported in January that Turner look the first steps toward Swiss citizenship and was approved by the local council. She has lived in the Zurich suburb of Kuesnacht since the mid-1990s.
Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tenn., Turner first became a star with ex-husband Ike Turner in the 1960s when she was part of the Ike and Tina Turner Revue.
Some of their biggest hits include "A Fool in Love" in 1960, "It's Gonna Work Out Fine" and "I Idolize You" in 1961, "Poor Fool" and "Tra La La La La" in 1962, and "River Deep, Mountain High," in 1966. The group's rendition of "Proud Mary" in the early 1970s earned Tina Turner her first Grammy.
The act was huge success on stage but the Turners had a troubled relationship. Tina Turner claimed she had been physically and emotionally abused, which led her to leave her husband in 1976.
After years of staging a comeback, Turner found success in 1984 with "Private Dancer," which sold 11 million albums. The album produced hits like "Let's Stay Together," "What's Love Got to Do With It," "Better Be Good to Me," and "Private Dancer."
The album won Turner Grammys for best female pop vocal performance, best rock vocal performance, song of the year and record of the year.
Turner, who had role in the movie "Tommy" in 1975 as the Acid Queen, got her biggest movie role starring opposite Mel Gibson in "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" in 1985.
