Tom Cruise took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge for the entire "Mission Impossible 5" cast and crew Tuesday, sitting still as eight buckets of ice water were dumped over his head.
In a YouTube post, Cruise, along with the movie’s director Chris McQuarrie, said the cast and crew were spread across three continents and they didn’t want the 24-hour deadline to pass. They were nominated by Hugh Jackman and the cast of “Pan.”

“So Tom and I are here to take a hit for the team,” McQuarrie said.
“Chris and I also are making donations of every member of our cast and crew that were lucky enough not to be here today,” Cruise added.
The two sat side by side in chairs as teams approached and dumped seven buckets of ice water over their heads and then one last person poured an eighth bucket on both of them.
Squirming as the ice cold water drenched him, Cruise at one point asked, “How much more?”
“Hardcore ice bucket challenge,” one person wrote on the YouTube video that had more than 400,000 hits Wednesday afternoon.
The two nominated Paramount executives Adam Goodman and Brad Grey, along with David Ellison of Skydance Productions.
Ellison already accepted the challenge, posting video Wednesday afternoon and saying that along with giving to ALS, he’s donating to Charity Water “to make up for what’s about to happen.” Some people have criticized the waste of water that’s occurring during the thousands of Ice Bucket Challenges being taken.
The ALS Association announced Wednesday it has received $31.9 million in donations from July 29 through Aug. 20. That compares to just $1.9 million over the same period last year.
