Tom Cruise was just yards away from a movie set trailer when it burst into flames on Friday night during the filming of his new movie, "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back."
"Emergency crews responded to blaze — just outside New Orleans — which allegedly started in a wardrobe trailer. We're told Tom was on set during the fire in a trailer nearby. Luckily, no one was seriously injured,"
TMZ reported.
The fire occurred the same day that "King of Queens" actress Leah Remini gave a tell-all interview about her time as a Scientologist, and why she decided to leave the religion that Cruise still calls his own.
Speaking to "20/20," Remini said she first became skeptical of Scientology after attending Cruise's 2006 wedding to Katie Holmes in Italy,
People magazine reported.
Remini said Cruise and church leader David Miscavige behaved inappropriately toward her.
She said that the church asked her to bring her best friend, Jennifer Lopez, and her husband, Marc Anthony, to the wedding in order to recruit them.
"The Church was really the one who invited them," she said. "On Tom's behalf."
"I can only assume because they wanted to make Jennifer a Scientologist. Maybe I was barring that road for them," she added.
Remini said that Cruise is a powerful member of the church.
"Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself," she said. "You are a person who is anti the aims and goals of Scientology, you are evil."
