Movie fans are getting their first chance to see Tom Hanks disappear into the role of iconic entertainment-maker Walt Disney with the release this week of
Disney's trailer "Saving Mr. Banks."
The "Saving Mr. Banks" trailer features Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Academy Award-winning British actor Emma Thompson as "Mary Poppins" creator P.L. Travers, according to the Hollywood Reporter, in the biopic on how Disney tried to convince Travers to bring the story of the beloved fictional nanny to the big screen.
The trailer manages to get in a lot in its nearly 2:30 minute run, including glimpses of how Travers bumped heads with Disney and his creative team. It showed some of the ways Disney tried to win Travers over, including a trip to Disneyland itself.

"When does anyone get to go to Disneyland with Walt Disney himself?" Hanks quipped in one of the featured lines in the trailer.
"Mary Poppins," which was released in 1964, would become one of Disney's signature and biggest hits, ranked among the top 25 money-making movies of all-time when adjusted for ticket price inflation over the years, according to
BoxOfficeMojo.com.
NME.com reports that it took Disney more than 20 years win Travers' confidence, with Travers winning her demand for script approval. The trailer shows how Travers and Disney battled over everything from actor Dick Van Dyke playing his role to some of now classic original songs from the movie.
The film hints at the movie's flashbacks to Travers' childhood in Australia with Colin Farrell playing the role of her father in those scenes, the inspiration of the movie title Mr. Banks.
The Hollywood Reporter said the trailer also features Jason Schwartzman and B.J. Novak as the songwriting team of Richard and Robert Sherman. Fans will also recognize stars Paul Giamatti, Rachel Griffith and Bradley Whitford in the trailer.

John Lee Hancock, from the Oscar-nominated film "The Blind Side," directs "Saving Mr. Banks." "The Blind Side" produced acting Oscar wins for Sandra Bullock (best actress) and Octavia Spencer (best supporting actress).
"Saving Mr. Banks" is scheduled to hit theaters just before Christmas in December.
