6. ISIS prison raid kills one U.S. soldier — One U.S. special operations service member died Thursday during a Kurdish-led raid on an ISIS prison aimed at freeing hostages in northern Iraq. Identified as 39-year-old Delta Force commando Master Sergeant Joshua Wheeler of Roland, Oklahoma, his death marks the first U.S. casualty from "hostile fire in Iraq since a training mission began there in June 2014," according to ABC News.
