It's confirmed: Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell will star in
Season 2 of "True Detective" on HBO, the network announced in a news release Tuesday.
The show, created by Nic Pizzolatto, follows three police officers and a career criminal in the aftermath of a murder. Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a detective torn between a corrupt police department and a mobster. Vaughn is Frank Semyon, a career criminal, whose business partner is murdered. Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes.

Further casting will be announced as it is confirmed, HBO said. The show’s first season featured Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Production of
"True Detective" Season 2 will begin this fall, Variety reported.
