Donald Trump, who is mulling a run for the Republican presidential nomination, says he will release his tax returns when President Barack Obama releases his birth certificate.

During an interview aired Tuesday on ABC News’ “Good Morning America” today, the real estate mogul also said he offered to build a $100 million ballroom addition to the White House that would mirror the grand ballroom at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Fla.

"I called up the White House about a year ago.  And I saw that they were having lots of functions for people like the president of China . . . And I said, ‘Listen, every time I see a function, you put an old broken canvas tent that they probably pay some guy, some local guy a fortune for' . . . I said, ‘I will build you, free of charge,’ to a very high official at the White House, ‘one of the great ballrooms of the world,’” Trump said.

Trump said he talked to the president’s former adviser, David Axelrod, about the ballroom offer. Axelrod said he forwarded Trump’s suggestion to the White House social secretary. The request was never acted on.
