President-elect Donald Trump will travel to Ohio to start a tour thanking voters with a visit to the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati late Thursday.
A victory in Ohio on election night was imperative to Trump winning the White House, so it’s fitting that he start his “USA Thank You Tour 2016” by holding a campaign-style rally in Cincinnati, ABC News noted.
“He enjoys being out there among the people,” a senior Trump transition official told ABC News. “He genuinely likes interacting with the American people and seeing their reaction.”
Besides Florida, Ohio was the state that Trump traveled to the most during his presidential campaign, as he campaigned there for nearly 20 days after first clinching the nomination in May and then went back for five days during the final month of his run for office, ABC News noted.
As the victory tour gets underway, Trump is set to visit several other states, some in which he was victorious on election night and some where he fell behind Hillary Clinton, according to Trump’s official.
Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina and Michigan are among the other states that the president-elect will visit during the tour, CBS Miami noted.
The last time Trump was at the downtown sports arena in Cincinnati, some 15,000 people showed up to the rally, turning out to be one of Trump’s “loudest” and “most hostile” crowds during the campaign, CBS Miami noted.
Despite starting his victory lap in Ohio, Trump will be making a stop in Indiana early Thursday to address factory workers that he made a promise to during his campaign, CBS Miami noted.
Carrier — an air-conditioners, heating and refrigeration company — will be holding on to more than 1,000 jobs in Indiana thanks to incentives by the state, which is governed by Vice President-elect Mike Pence, CNN Money noted.
“The incentives offered by the state were an important consideration,” in staying, Carrier said in a statement on Wednesday, according to CNN Money.
“Today’s announcement is possible because the incoming Trump-Pence administration has emphasized to us its commitment to support the business community and create an improved, more competitive U.S. business climate,” the company said, according to CBS Miami.
Trump tweeted about his travel plans.
