The alleged Trump star smasher who took a pickax to the president-elect's name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in October was charged with one count of felony vandalism by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office Thursday.

James Lambert Otis, 52, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles, according to a statement from the district attorney's office. Otis is accused of using a sledgehammer and pickax to smash Donald Trump's star at the Hollywood tourist attraction on Oct. 26.

Otis allegedly then removed the brass medallion from the middle of the star. He could receive a maximum three years in jail if conviction, according to the statement.

KTLA-TV reported that the incident was recorded by a camera on Hollywood Boulevard.

"I admitted my mistakes and am now dealing with my consequences, unlike Mr. Trump, who has never admitted what he's done," Otis said at a news conference after he was released from jail, KTLA-TV reported. "And that's why I destroyed the star; I broke the law."

The television station stated that Otis had said he wanted to sell the star and use the proceeds to help women who had accused Trump of sexually assaulting them.

A decade's old video of Trump talking to "Access Hollywood's" Billy Bush about women, followed by accusations by numerous women claiming they were sexually assaulted by the president-elected became a focal point of the presidential campaign, CNN reported.

"I just sort of had enough with Mr. Trump's aggressive language toward women and his behavior, his sexual violence with women and against women," Otis said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "I've had personally in my own family four people who have been assaulted or have had sexual violence happen to them. It all became very personal."

The billionaire businessman and former host of the reality show "The Apprentice" received his star on the Walk of Fame in 2007. The star is located in the 6800 block of Hollywood Boulevard.

Otis is an heir to the Otis Elevator Company fortune, WNBC-TV reported.
