A suspect is in custody after a stabbing at the University of Texas at Austin that left one person dead and three injured.
The attack was first reported to police at 1:46 p.m. local time, and emergency personnel responded near the Gregory Gym, the Austin American-Statesman reported. University police said the public is not in danger from this incident and asked them to avoid the area.
A tweet from UT Austin said classes and events would be canceled on Monday but that “there is no ongoing threat on campus.” The cancellations appeared to be because of the investigation taking place, which limited access to some parts of the campus.
Another tweet from the student newspaper showed police arresting the suspect after the stabbing.
Fox News reported two victims were stabbed and a third was assaulted in the incident.
There were no reports about why the stabbing occurred. Austin police are assisting UT police in the investigation.
