"I'm more than happy today, I think I'm the happiest girl in the world," Veena told the Geo News channel, which aired footage of the couple flashing their wedding bands. She told the Deccan Chronicle: "Destiny just plays its part, we were destined to be there on this particular day.
The family is planning to hold celebrations in Dubai, Pakistan, and the United States, where Khattak promised Malik a "white wedding," according to the paper.
The two have been friends for many years. Their fathers have been close since serving in the army together, and decided to take their friendship a step further.
Veena is best known for her appearance in an Indian reality show, "Bigg Boss." In 2011, she posed topless on the cover of For Him Magazine with ISI, the initials for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence spy agency, written on her upper arm. That caused a controversy in her home country, and she sued the magazine, saying the images were doctored.
Earlier this year, Malik told inquisitr about her desire to wed by the end of 2015, and stressed finding a man who shared her religious views.
"Being independent I do agree that I take my own decision," she told inquisitr.com. "But belonging to Muslim religion I will surely like to get married to a Muslim."
