After a Wagoner jail escape, authorities on Tuesday arrested the two inmates who broke free from the county jail about 50 miles southeast of Tulsa, Okla.

Mickey Staggs, 38, and Larry Cotton, 25, reportedly overpowered a guard and locked him in a cell, said The Associated Press. Wagoner County Sheriff Bob Colbert told reporters that the jailbreak happened at about 9 p.m., and the guard, who was not hurt, was locked in a cell during the escape.

Colbert said Cotton was found thanks to a tip and was arrested without incident in a vacant apartment Tuesday morning. His accomplice was busted while walking along Highway 51 around noon after officers got a tip from someone who saw Staggs jumping a fence, according to Fox 25 in Oklahoma City.

Cotton had been charged with and was awaiting trial on possessing a stolen vehicle and endangering others while trying to elude the law. Staggs was charged with and awaiting trial on various weapons charges and possessing a stolen vehicle.

A half-dozen law enforcement agencies took part in the overnight search for the fugitives and authorities received numerous tips from the public to help them out. Authorities placed the jail on lockdown after the escape and pored over the inmates’ phone calls.

Investigators do not believe the pair got any help from the outside, according to a report on KJRH television.

There are 109 inmates in the jail, which has a capacity of 101 but is authorized to hold 152.
