Warren Buffett is notorious for his sweet tooth and was delighted when a Coke-themed birthday cake was presented to him on Thursday during an annual charity luncheon and celebration for his 88th birthday, CNBC noted.
The billionaire, who took a failing Berkshire Hathaway and transformed it into a $522 billion empire, was attending the benefit in aid of the Glide Foundation at Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in Manhattan, New York, when the cake was wheeled out.
The charity lunch is held each year in aid of the Glide Foundation, which benefits animal welfare organizations.
This year the event was completed with a "Coke-float" cake.
Pastry chef Cory Colton told CNBC that the chocolate cake took four days to make and was soaked in cola syrup and topped with dark chocolate ganache as well as buttercream made to taste like ice cream by whipping freeze dried "astronaut ice cream" into the frosting.
Buffett is known to gulp down several Cokes a day, which is why the cake was unique.
"I'm one quarter Coca-Cola," he previously told Fortune. "If I eat 2,700 calories a day, a quarter of that is Coca-Cola. I drink at least five 12-ounce servings. I do it every day."
He told the news outlet that his diet was inspired by that of a 6-year-old.
"I checked the actuarial tables, and the lowest death rate is among 6-year-olds. So I decided to eat like a 6-year-old," he said. "It's the safest course I can take."
Buffett also is a big fan of potato sticks, particularly the Pennsylvania-based Utz brand, and regularly scarfs down chocolate ice cream for breakfast.
According to Business Insider, vegetables rarely factor into Buffett's diet, but junk food and salt are firm favorites, along with See's Candies.
