Whoopi Goldberg and the ladies of "The View" discussed Bill Cosby's recent sexual assault charges on their first episode of the New Year, and she said she was glad the world will finally hear his side of the story.
"Look, I'm glad it's happening," she said of the charges against her friend and fellow comedian,
according to The Daily Beast. "I sorta feel like, whenever you have people saying, 'This is what happened, this is what happened, this is what happened,' I want the court. I want to hear it."
"I want everybody to be able to ask the questions. We've heard a lot, but we have not heard anything from his side," she added.
Raven-Symoné, who played Olivia Kendall on "The Cosby Show," was mostly silent throughout the discussion,
Yahoo noted.
She did say, however, that she "would like to watch" the court proceedings unfold if a judge allows them to be televised.
Cosby, 78, was arraigned Dec. 30 for one count of aggravated indecent assault in regard to an alleged 2004 incident involving Temple University employee Andrea Constand. She accused Cosby of drugging her and putting his hands down her pants at his Philadelphia mansion. A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Jan. 14.
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman overruled her predecessor, who in 2005 declined to charge Cosby. The charges were brought just days before the 12-year statute of limitations ran out.
Motion on the case began this past summer when testimony from Constand's related civil lawsuit against Cosby was unsealed.
Cosby has continually maintained that he is innocent, and that the alleged sexual contact was consensual.
Goldberg received criticism from viewers for seeming to defend him last year, but appears to have reconsidered.
Cosby has been accused by dozens of women who say he drugged and/or assaulted them. He has filed a countersuit against some of the accusers for defamation.
According to ET Online, he also filed a separate defamation suit against model Beverly Johnson, who claimed Cosby drugged her cappuccino in the mid-1980s.
