Will Ferrell shot a basketball directly at a cheerleader's head Monday during a Lakers game, knocking her to the ground — but it turns out the stunt was all part of a movie shoot for his upcoming film "Daddy’s Home."
The professional stunt was cringe-worthy, as photos of the dead-on head shot flattening the New Orleans Pelicans cheerleader show. It’s easily seen in a Vine video uploaded by Lakers’ reporter Mike Trudell, who was covering the game.
"They’re filming a Will Ferrell movie here at halftime, in which he drills a cheerleader w/a failed halfcourt shot," Trudell captioned the clip.
"Let this be a lesson to us all. Movies are real. Everything you see in them is real. And Will Ferrell is the realest of them all,"
USA Today wrote under photographs of Ferrell’s shot, including one right as the ball smacked the cheerleader.
As part of the movie, security carried Ferrell from the game. Shots of that scene soon showed up on social media.
Mark Wahlberg stars with Ferrell in "Daddy’s Home," which marks the first time the two have teamed up since
"The Other Guys" in 2010, Entertainment Weekly said.
The movie, which doesn’t yet have a release date set, is about a divorced man whose wife remarries an uptight man, and he
decides to cause trouble in the couple’s life, IMDb said.
Some people online didn’t pick up on the fact that the cheerleader smashing was part of a movie stunt.
