The end of world is coming Monday, according to numerologist David Meade, adding to the long list of end-of-days predictions.
Meade, who predicted the end of the world last year as well, said in his latest warning that believers will be absorbed into the heavens while nonbelievers are left behind and die over a period of about five months, on the premise that the sun, moon and Jupiter, which supposedly represents the Messiah, will be in constellation Virgo, Fox News reported.
The Bible's Revelation 12:1-2 speaks of a "woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head," who labors to give birth to a dictator who will ultimately bring about the world's end, Live Science noted.
The trouble this time around with Meade's prediction, which has actually been around since 1843, is that the astronomy is all wrong, Live Science said. Jupiter will appear not in Virgo but in the constellation Libra from Earth's perspective while the sun will appear to align with Aries, while the moon in the constellation Gemini on Monday, the website said, pointing to observations from The Sky Live.
Fox News said some took Meade's latest prediction with a grain of salt.
"Cranks," Jonathan Sarfati of Creation Ministries International called Meade. "These [predictions] are not consistent with the biblical stories. Everything Meade said about April 23 he said last year. At some point we have to stop believing people who keep crying 'wolf.'"
Meade, though, is only one of a long list of end-of-the-world of prognosticators who have made similar predictions.
In 1997, author Richard Noone predicted in his book, "Ice: The Ultimate Disaster," that on May 5, 2000, the planets would align and cause melting ice to strike the Earth's Equator, Fox News wrote.
That was followed by, per Fox News:
- Computer mayhem from the Y2K scare that was expected to create electrical mayhem and even cause airplanes to drop from the sky in 2000.
- Evangelical Christian leader Pat Robertson set the date and time for the end of the world in 2007.
- There was fear that the Large Hadron Collider could lead to the creation of a black hole that would swallow Earth in September 2009.
- Chris McMann, the leader of the eBible Fellowship group in Philadelphia, warned that a fire would end the world in October 2015.
