Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz said Thursday that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn is not a credible witness in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation.
In an interview with Fox News' "OutNumbered Overtime," the author of "Trumped Up" said it is his "hunch" Flynn's lawyer, Robert Kelner, is ready to make a deal.
"He is holding Flynn up there and saying 'I have a man for sale, or for rent,'" Dershowitz said. "'If the government wants him, the prosecutor wants him, we are ready to make a deal. If the president wants him on his side, we are ready to accept a pardon.'
"I don't think a deal has been made yet because, if it had been, I think one of the conditions would be no leaking, because Mueller doesn't like leaks."
But making a deal will not be easy, he argued.
"He has committed perjury, or is alleged to have committed perjury," Dershowitz said, adding: "He is not a good witness in terms of his own credibility. No responsible prosecutor puts him on the witness stand and says 'believe this man, he is telling the truth.'
"He is only valuable as somebody who can lead to others. . . . He is not somebody who can be used as a credible witness in building a case. . . ."
