Actress America Ferrera is taking a leading role in the Women's March on Washington – a major demonstration planned for the day after Donald Trump is sworn in as president, BuzzFeed News reports.

The Jan. 21 march will bring together a number of liberal groups. Feminist and journalist Gloria Steinem and civil rights activist and musician Harry Belafonte are serving as honorary co-chairs of the march.

Ferrera, who came to fame in the show "Ugly Betty" and currently stars in the TV series "Superstore," spoke at the Democratic National Convention and has been involved in getting Latinos to vote throughout the United States, BuzzFeed News adds. She will chair an Artists' Committee for the march, according to the website.

Her spokesperson said "that's something she arranged on her own" and declined further comment, BuzzFeed reports.
