While it has been widely reported the coronavirus is more deadly for the elderly, it has shown little concern about inflicting younger New Yorkers, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Saturday.

Of New York's 10,356 confirmed cases, 54% are between the ages 18-49, Cuomo told reporters Saturday during his daily briefing.

"You're not superman, and you're not superwoman, you can get this virus, and you can transfer the virus, and you can wind up hurting someone who you love or hurting someone wholly inadvertently," Cuomo said. "It has to be stopped."

Cuomo's state is going to into a shelter in place order Saturday night.

As for the testing, per Cuomo, New York has conducted 45,437 coronavirus tests, the most in the U.S. and more per capita than China and South Korea – two of the countries that have been widely considered as having the best response to the global pandemic.
