Police in Palm Beach where President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club is located say monitoring protesters who rail against the president has become quite expensive for the tony town of multi-millionaires.

The Palm Beach Daily News says while the island resort community allows the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office to handle most security measures with the Secret Service when Trump jets in, it does provide one officer and a paramedic.

But Palm Beach does have jurisdiction over protests — one of which drew thousands on Feb. 4. Public Safety Director Kirk Blouin told the newspaper the Palm Beach Police Department assigned 30 to 40 officers on overtime to that rally.

"That's very staff-intensive and requires a lot of police officers … We know we're going to get protests. The size of the protests, I have no idea," Blouin told the Post.

Just how much the town has spent on Trump-related security was not available — but the billionaire businessman has been spending frequent weekends at the 90-year-old, 17-acre estate which has been dubbed "The Winter White House."
