CAPTREE STATE PARK, N.Y. (AP) — News this week that several killers have used a strip of highway near New York's Jones Beach as a dumping ground for bodies has ratcheted up an already intense homicide investigation.
Ten sets of human remains have been found along Ocean Parkway since December. A prosecutor said this week it appears authorities are dealing with multiple killers.
The first four victims were quickly identified as women who booked clients for sex online. Police suspect a serial killer in that case.
Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota (SPOH'-tah) says there are other victims whose deaths appear unrelated. Those victims include two dismembered women killed years ago. There's also a man and a toddler.
That's not all: Remains found at two Nassau County sites have yet to be identified.
