Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin doubled down on the comments she made at the National Rifle Association convention over the weekend that she would not hesitate to use the interrogation method of waterboarding, if she "were in charge."
"Would I make it again? Why wouldn't I, yeah, absolutely," Palin
told NBC News. "Terrorists who want to annihilate Americans, innocent Americans, our children — whatever it takes to stop them. If I were in charge, I'd be stoppin' em."
Palin made the original comments while speaking at the annual NRA meeting in Indianapolis on Saturday about how terrorists would be treated if she were president.
"They obviously have information on plots to carry out jihad," Palin said.
"Oh, but you can't offend them, can't make them feel uncomfortable, not even a smidgen," she added. "Well, if I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists."
President Barack Obama banned the use of enhanced interrogation techniques when he took office in 2009. However, it was later revealed that the
Central Intelligence Agency used techniques such as waterboarding to get information needed to find and kill Osama bin Laden.
