The Obama administration is encouraging a wave of immigrant children to cross the border illegally as part of a political agenda to gain support for amnesty for "dreamers," former border patrol agents say.
Ex-agents say that the administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program launched in 2012, which defers deportation for children of illegal immigrants, has encouraged unprecedented numbers of young children to come to the United States illegally, including more than 33,000 in Texas alone over the last eight months,
WND reported.
"This is not a humanitarian crisis. It is a predictable, orchestrated and contrived assault on the compassionate side of Americans by her political leaders that knowingly puts minor illegal alien children at risk for purely political purposes," the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers said in a statement.
"Certainly, we are not gullible enough to believe that thousands of unaccompanied minor Central American children came to America without the encouragement, aid and assistance of the United States government," the officers said.
The group said the policy has overwhelmed border patrol capabilities and that the Obama administration has also failed to enforce existing border control laws as a deliberate act of "political deception."
The administration said this week that the Federal Emergency Management Agency is developing a strategy to manage the numbers of illegal children arriving in the United States. White House spokesman Josh Earnest said many are "escaping abuse or persecution," WND reported.
Meanwhile, Judicial Watch Editor Irene Garcia
told Newsmax TV Wednesday that many of the immigrant minors flooding over the U.S. borders are older, sexually active teenagers, some of whom have criminal backgrounds or are linked to gangs from their native countries.
Garcia said that in many cases, U.S. immigration officials are allowing the border crossings, and are involved in "back-door deals" with Central American diplomats to arrange it.
