Ashley Kavanaugh: Accusations 'Not Consistent With Brett'

The wife of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh said Monday she knows his "heart," has never doubted his innocence of sexual assault and misconduct allegations — and has encouraged their two young daughters to "just remember, you know your dad."

In her first public remarks about accusations that threaten to derail her husband's high court bid, Ashley Kavanaugh, interviewed along with Judge Kavanaugh on Fox News' "The Story," said the family was strong amid the unsettling crisis.

"This process is incredibly difficult," she said. "Harder than we imagined, and we imagined it might be hard. But at the end of the day, our faith is strong. We know we are on the right path. We will stick to it."

Particularly difficult, she confessed, was "to have these conversations with your children, which we had to have."

"They know Brett. They know the truth," she said of the couple's two daughters. "We told them at the very beginning of the process, 'This will be not fun sometimes. You will hear things that people feel strongly. You need to know that. Just remember, you know your dad.'"

Ashley Kavanaugh pointed out she has known her husband for 17 years — and Christine Blasey Ford's allegation of sexual assault in the early '80s is "really hard to believe."

"He is descent, kind, good," she said of Kavanaugh. "I know his heart. This is not consistent with Brett."

But she said she also feels "badly" for Ford "through this process."

"This process is not right," she said.
