Buffalo Bill Cody's great-grandsons have been killed in a plane crash in Florida, along with a friend.
The accident killed Kit Cody, 63, and his brother, Barry, 67, along with their friend Rob Krieger, a 65-year-old Florida businessman, t
he Cody Enterprise reports. The plane went down in the wooded Fort Drum Marsh Conversation Area, 20 miles west of Vero Beach.
The Federal Aviation Administration said contact was lost with the Cessna 310 on Thursday afternoon, and the crash site was found on Friday.
Kit Cody's son-in-law, Bryan Edwards, said the three men had been island hopping in the Bahamas before the crash, and that his mother-in-law, Linda, was to have accompanied her husband on the trip but backed out at the last minute.
Buffalo Bill, whose real name was William F. Cody, became best known for his Wild West show that played from the 1880s to the early 1900s. Kit Cody still owned businesses in Cody, Wyo., the town named for his famous ancestor.
