New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie used $85,000 in public money to entertain in luxury boxes at sports venues between 2010 and early 2012.
The state Republican Party then started to pay for those expenses, and reimbursed the state for those already incurred.
The money came from an account worth $95,000 a year that Christie can tap to pay for expenses associated with his job as governor.
The spending is detailed in documents obtained by The Associated Press under the state's open records law.
It's not clear why the state started billing the New Jersey GOP for food and other expenses, though that did come soon after Christie was criticized for using a state helicopter to attend his son's baseball games.
