The United States has more than 1.2 million confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 74,844 deaths as of Thursday afternoon, according to Johns Hopkins University.

New York accounts for more deaths than any other state with 26,130. More than 20,000 new cases per day are being diagnosed, which was the same daily frequency in April.

The good news is over half of all U.S counties have no coronavirus deaths, and a cluster of states are responsible for most coronavirus deaths.

The uptick in coronavirus cases continues to affect the job market, as more than 33 million people have filed unemployment claims in the United States, including 3.169 last week, according to the Department of Labor.

Now, states are slowly beginning to reopen, with governors allowing limited retail activity in places such as Alabama, Arkansas and Georgia along with several others.
