A majority of Americans believe there are not enough coronavirus tests available, according to a new poll released Friday.

An ABC News/Ipsos poll indicates most people think there is a lack of testing and a majority are skeptical about returning to normal activities as lockdown restrictions are lifted because of a lack of testing.

Most Americans say they aren’t ready to send their children back to school. The poll was conducted after Dr. Anthony Fauci and President Donald Trump clashed over when schools will be able to reopen.

Poll results indicate:

  • 73% of Americans surveyed say there is not adequate testing available.
  • 26% of Americans polled believe there is adequate testing available right now.
  • 69% of Americans with a school-aged child are not willing to send their child back to school.
  • 91% of Americans are willing to get back to grocery shopping.
  • 71% of Americans are ready to get back to work.
  • 56% of Americans will get their hair cut.

Poll results indicate that Republicans are more willing to get back to normal activities than Democrats. More than half of Republicans surveyed are willing to eat at a restaurant (61%), stay in a hotel (60%), get a haircut (74%), attend church (60%), and go shopping at the mall (61%), according to the poll.

Democrats are not ready do the same activities. Only 22% are willing to eat at a restaurant, 28% willing to stay at a hotel, 37% willing to get a haircut, 25% willing to attend church and just 19% willing to go to a shopping mall.

The poll surveyed 564 Americans between May 13-14. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4.8-5.3 percentage points.
