New regulations proposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to impose Internet neutrality drew heated opposition from free-market Republicans. But Democrats succeeded Wednesday in blunting the progress of a Republican-proposed bill that would jettison the new rules,

Only hours before markup of the measure was slated to start, House Republicans agreed to accept a delay. “The minority has requested another hearing on these issues,” a Republican spokesperson for the Energy and Commerce Committee told Politico. “We welcome the opportunity to shine additional light on the consequences of these regulations for job creators and American innovation.” The spokesperson confirmed that another hearing would indeed be conducted.
Republicans hope another hearing will help galvanize public opposition to more regulation.
